Bearcubs is the immersive solo project from 25 year old electronic artist Jack Ritchie. Over the past 2 years, Bearcubs has honed in on a distinctly unique blend of emotive electronic music, future garage and lofi house music in his meticulously crafted productions.

With two singles that saw him heavily championed by the likes of Annie Mac and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1, and praised for his talent by respected tastemakers such as Mixmag, Noisey and i-D, among others, he has recently released his new EP “Chroma”. Featuring up-and-comers Secaina Hudson and Beau Young Prince, this collection of songs solidifies Bearcubs’ standing as one of the most innovative electronic artists of the moment.

===== Eyebrow

Eyebrow are Pete Judge on trumpet and Paul Wigens on drums.

Together they play with simplicity, repetition, texture and space, treating minimal as a strength. The music – composition, improvisation, acoustic, organic, evolving electronics. The drums – obsessive, warm, resonant, harsh, metallic . The trumpet – loops melodies floating beauty darkness soundscapes shifting stark orchestral.

Paul Wigens (drums, percussion, electronics) has played with the groups Blurt, Grand Drive, The Blue Aeroplanes and Cousteau. Tours and session work includes: Natacha Atlas, Viv Albertine (The Slits), Damo Suzuki (Can), Gary Lucas (Captain Beefheart, Jeff Buckley), Get The Blessing, Strangelove, Witness, Red Sky July and many more.

Pete Judge (trumpet/electronics) also plays with BBC Jazz Award winners Get The Blessing, and multi-instrumental acoustic trio Three Cane Whale. Tours and session work includes: Super Furry Animals, Noel Gallagher, Jim Moray, John Parish, and Marc Gauvin. “The excellent Pete Judge sounds somewhere between the late Don Cherry and the UK’s Harry Beckett” (John Fordham, The Guardian) “Pete Judge is truly magical. The epitome of cool, finely timed musical restraint” (Venue)

===== KURO黒 (Rocket Recordings)

Kuro take their name from the Japanese word for ‘black’, and their debut release for Rocket Recordings marks an experimental union between two diversely storied yet inherently like-minded musicians.

A unique, richly atmospheric and largely improvisatory sound that stands proud and defiant of pigeonholing, Kuro is neither elegant chamber music nor intense drone-noise, neither psychedelia nor spiritual jazz, yet with elements of all of the above- dwelling perhaps atop a psychic hinterland between the shamanic vortices of Ashtray Navigations, the wild extrapolations of Sun City Girls and the melancholic richness of The Dirty Three. Yet what comes across strongest of all is the original spark of the partnership, summoning altered states, meditative vibrations and internal narratives by the power of eight strings.

Agathe Max, who hails originally from Lyon, is a classically-trained violinist with a varied back catalogue of studio and live work – running the gamut from spectral ambience to stately soundscapes and adept at summoning dreamstates and drama alike, her emotive and engaging work has found admirers at a number of UK festivals such as Supersonic and Raw Power.

Bristol-based Gareth Turner, meanwhile, maintains a busy schedule performing and recording with Rocket Recordings trio Anthroprophh (alongside The Heads guitarist Paul Allen) bass/drums duo Big Naturals, and his solo double-bass project Salope, as well as working as a touring tech for Melvins on their trips to Europe.

====== Iceman Furniss Quintet (Noctone)

IFQ play entirely improvised music with deep rooted grooves and textured walls of sound, blending influences such as post-punk, the New York no wave scene, electric Miles, avant garde sonics and the spirtual jazz movement into their own intense and uncompromising sound.

Having released their their first single through new Bristol record label Noctone, they look set to release an EP plus their first album later in the year.

They are Harry Furniss (cornet) Ant Brown (bass) Tom J Bryan (guitar and electronics) Danny Le Guilcher (prepared guitar) Chris Langton (drums)

” .. blend of free blowing jazz and post-punk dynamics makes them easily one of Bristol’s most exciting live bands”
Bristol 24/7

“In a time when the joys of jazz and its myriad forms are becoming more and more popular in mainstream music, Iceman Furniss Quintet may be one of the UK’s most shining lights. Based on this recording alone the band demand your attention”
Louder than War Magazine
